Here at Canon Street Optometrists, you are fortunate enough to have ready access to the latest technology to ensure that the health of your eyes and vision is monitored and assessed in the best way possible.

As part of that, we are proud to be the only optometrists south of Christchurch to have an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) machine.

When your eyes are constantly dry and feeling irritated, it can really affect your day-to-day activities. Some symptoms of dry eye syndrome include red eyes at the end of the day, or tired eyes after watching TV. Sometimes it's things like artificial lights, air pollution, working on computers - things that we'd take for granted - that may be causing your eyes to be dry.

This particular syndrome can be a real pain in the eyes!

Our team members are continuously researching and sourcing the latest optical technology (almost as much as some of us are about sourcing the latest shoes!).

Having the IPL machine permanently in our practice means that our optometrists are able to readily diagnose and treat many dry eye conditions in most customers. Why not find out more about how IPL could benefit you and your busy lifestyle?

But wait, there's more...

Another fantastic piece of technology we are thrilled to be able to offer to you as part of our continued service, is the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan, which gives a 3D scan of your eye structures.

OCT scans are now included in comprehensive eye examinations (age 50 and over) and post-cataract eye examinations. This is a 3D scan of your eye structures in 10 minutes, completely painless and non-invasive! It's the gold standard for early detection of eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.

As the OCT scan is painless and scans your eye without touching it, you'll be in and out quicker than you can say "life is short, buy the glasses".
